Time does not heal everything

Time does not heal everything

Everyone says time heals any broken piece but sometimes being too careerist hurts your relationship and so time does not heal everything. Relationship is like a glass ball which when dropped breaks, you can glue it but it will never be like the old one.

Career is like a rubber ball, it will bounce back to you.

TIme does not Heal Two young girls and a young boy, probably in their late teens in the balcony discussing relationships, engaged in a deep conversation trying to make a reason out the few experiences they have had for all these years. Poorvi and Manav are already committed to each other; Maansi is Manav’s cousin and best friend. Poorvi flaunts her hourglass figure by leaning against the wall to keep Manav’s eyes hooked up on her; the peplum top and pencil skirt accentuate her beauty. Maansi is more of a geek who likes to pay attention to the details and reads between the lines to probe deep into the pneumatic locus and come up with solutions and hence she is the apple of everyone’s eye. Manav is in his casual with his nerdy glasses on and Maansi wears a short yellow dress with her hair undone, she lets her hair swing with the touch of wind blowing and soothing the young souls.  Slow fade in. Maansi holds a Garfield coffee mug in her hand, and Poorvi is busy filing her nails, Manav looks disturbed. Maansi is standing in the extreme left; Poorvi is in the middle and Manav in the extreme right corner.

Story starts here

Poorvi: (twitching Manav’s arm in order to tease him) Men, are visual creatures, dogs you know (to Maansi).

Maansi: Hey, girl, common, do not be so rude, please do not belittle a dog’s worth by comparing them to these unfaithful men (looking at Manav).

Manav: (exchanging glances with both the girls) Hello girls, I am a Man.

Poorvi: (teasing him) No, you are my dog.

Maansi: (ignoring Manav’s presence) A dog who wags his tail, and obeys all your orders and who loves you for who you are?

Poorvi: (filing her nails) A dog, with random temper tantrums.

Manav: (embracing her from behind, casually cuddling and enjoying the weather) My gorgeous girl, would you mind if I ask you to wait for like three years from now and then get back with me.

Maansi: (sipping coffee from the coffee mug) Now that sounds weird bro. (to Manav).

Poorvi: (perplexed) can you elucidate on your statement…

Maansi: (interrupting) He didn’t tell you yet?

Poorvi: (freezes for a while and looks at both of them) Manav, what is it?

Manav: I am not sure yet, but possibilities are…

Maansi: (interrupting) let me handle this please. (To Poorvi) he has sent a few applications to the universities abroad, and he plans on joining me actually. (hesitating) you see honey keeping the current scenario in mind it’s better not to settle here with paper like thin prospects for personal growth and development and the lifestyle is way better over there and you can join us in our family business too, we would be glad to involve you in our projects, we need top notch models to…

The negotiations

Manav: (cutting in) and the incentives are lucrative, you can pose for our magazines and we can pet as many dogs as you want and nobody will thrust motherhood on you.

Poorvi: (freezes, with a heavy heart, freeing herself from his grip) and you thought it’s better to disclose everything right before leaving?

Manav: Nothing has been decided, it’s just a proposal and chances are…

Poorvi: (cutting in, sharply, looking at Manav) chances are you will leave me forever.

Maansi: Poorvi, there’s more to life than finding the perfect partner and seeking happiness in his happiness and, think about it, would you like to hold on to him by force.

Poorvi: (screaming at the top of her voice) Yes, I want to hold on to our relationship by any means, I can’t live without him.

Manav: (holding her arms) look at me Poorvi; I am not saying that I will isolate you. Give me some time let me settle down and then I can have a voice with your family, until then have patience.

Poorvi: and what about all these years? No, tell me what if something happens to me will you just express your concern over a voice call or video call and be done and dusted with me.

Maansi: (holding her palms in order to calm her) Look Poorvi, I believe the sense of fulfillment should come from within, you cannot radiate positive vibes unless you are happy, so study well, do what you want and then think about commitment.

Emotion gate breaks

Poorvi: (screaming and yelling) don’t you dare judge my loyalty, and who are you to judge? I have invested four years of my life on your brother only to be pushed away by him that too like this.

Manav: what she means to say is if you love me truly, you won’t try to succeed in your feeble attempt at holding me back. If I stay back, life will be very methodical, I may act out of gratitude that will not be backed by genuine feelings for you and right now if I do not invest my mind on channeling my career at the right path then you will render me spineless and irresponsible.

Maansi: (in an attempt to explain Poorvi) Poorvi don’t get him wrong but if you give him some time his plan can work for the both of you.

Poorvi: (slaps Manav suddenly) You realized all of it after sleeping with me, for over three years, no, not a word, don’t provoke me to use cuss words, I should have traced your lewd intentions earlier.

Poorvi leaves abruptly, spotlights on Maansi and Manav; they stare at each other, unable to recover from the shock.
